You remain the expert of your own life. My role is to support and guide you with practical, step-by-step strategies tailored specifically to your needs, helping you take meaningful control of your journey.

My Professional Journey
Elite Tennis Representation
In 2009, Byron was selected to represent South Africa in tennis. While competing professionally on the European circuit, he gained firsthand insight into the psychological, physical, and emotional demands required to perform at an elite level. This experience highlighted the critical role of mental resilience, emotional regulation, and structured physical conditioning in sustained high performance.
Professional Coaching Foundation
In 2010, Byron qualified as an internationally recognised HFPA Personal Trainer and began coaching tennis full-time. This year marked the transition from professional competition to professional mentorship and physical conditioning.
Academic Foundation & Academy Founder
Between 2011 and 2013, Byron completed a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Human Movement Sciences, Sport Psychology, and Psychology. During this period, he founded Centre Court Tennis Academy, which he successfully ran for a decade.
A Decade of Impact & National Leadership
Over these ten years, Byron trained and coached thousands of students ranging in age from 2 to 95. His leadership was recognized nationally when he was selected as the coach for the South African Under-19 tennis team in both 2012 and 2016.
A Profound Life Transformation
In 2021, Byron’s life changed profoundly following a diagnosis of Crohn’s disease. Two months later, he suffered a spontaneous pneumothorax (collapsed lung) requiring emergency post-thoracotomy surgery, where he was given only a 10% chance of survival. Despite losing over 4.5 litres of blood, the surgery was lifesaving, though it resulted in long-term damage to peripheral nerve bundles and severe nerve injury.
Resilience & Redirecting Professional Focus
Following the development of post-thoracotomy pain syndrome and chronic headaches, which ended his career as an athlete, Byron began his Honours degree in Counselling Psychology. He dedicated himself to clinical work, supporting individuals across a wide range of psychological and emotional challenges.
Lived Experience & Clinical Insight
Through both professional training and lived experience, Byron has developed a deep understanding of chronic pain, chronic illness, trauma, identity loss, resilience, and psychological adaptation. He integrates this deep empathy and understanding into his therapeutic approach.
Honours Completion & Clinical Success
Byron completed his BA Honours in Counselling Psychology at UNISA, graduating Cum Laude with an 80% aggregate. In 2025 alone, over 2,000 individuals sought counselling with Byron, maintaining a consistent five-star client rating.
Advanced Mediator Certification
Completed certification as a registered family and divorce mediator through the Mediation Academy of South Africa with an 80% aggregate. He is registered with the Global Network Group Alternative Dispute Resolution Register, which is nationally and internationally recognised.
A Holistic Clinical Foundation
Byron is now highly qualified with over 8 years of studying, two degrees, and three diplomas revolving around the holistic human condition and behaviour, providing comprehensive support for his clients.
